It’s a long weekend ahead, thanks to this Dragon Boat Festival. A huge soccer game was on Wednesday night and my younger brother invited some friends over to watch the game in the middle of the night. I got home fairly late that night and as I opened the door, the living room was already packed with the expectation of the game. My brother and his friends were already playing a soccer game on the PS2. After a quick shower, I sat down in the living room as the game was about to begin with my little work desk set up (because I wanted to finish a proposal that I’ll be presenting the next day).
Just before the game began, mum and dad came out to join the excitement, so as my uncle who lives just a few blocks away. The game begun and half my time at my little work desk was spent watching the game with everyone. While I was concentrating on work, the air-conditioner kept me unconsciencely cold. By the time I’m done with my proposal, I’ve realized that I’ve caught a cold. The game ended. Barcelona won 2-0 over Manchester United.
The following day, I went to meet up with a few friends for happy hour at TST. I already have flu symptoms and started coughing a bit, so I wore a mask on my way out for the first time in my life and kept 2 more in my backpack as spares. You must be thinking, ‘You would have worn a mask during the SARS outbreak, liar!’ But the fact is, I wasn’t in Hong Kong during SARS. It was quite an experience, because you can tell from people’s look on their face, they don’t want you near them. There’s this old woman sitting across the walkway on the bus, as soon as there’s an empty seat somewhere else, she moved.
Anyways, on Friday (I was supposed to be in a training room), my sickness has still not improved and I was getting a bit scared that I might be infected by the H1N1 virus. So first thing in the morning, I went to see a doctor. Luckily, he said I’m not infected by H1N1, just a normal flu. He gave me some prescription medicine and as soon as I got out of the clinic, I took them and went to the training room. The medication was so strong that as soon as I sat down in the training room, I fell asleep.

Me wearing mask
I spent the rest of the weekend in bed. Didn’t even bother waking up to do anything. The only time I got out of bed was to take my medication or eat, then straight back in bed. I’ve finally decided to get myself out of bed on Sunday late afternoon and I went out to have dinner with a friend.
There’s still some morning/night coughs but I’m sure I’ll be fine soon.

the use of face masks and boosting your immune system by taking lots of vitamin-C is still an effective way of preventing the spread of the Swine Flu virus.
i always advice my kids to wear face masks when going into crowded areas. swine flu is really scary and i dont want my kids getting infected by it.
I have a relative who got the Swine Flu in Mexico. It is a good thing that he already recovered from this disease.
