  • TwitterFon (I’m now using TwitterFon more often)
  • Twitterrific
  • WordPress
  • Zynga Mafia Wars

And the following are apps that I use a lot but not on a daily basis.

  • AFII Lite
  • AroundMe
  • Cube Runner
  • DuckShoot
  • Enjoy
  • Facebook
  • Fring
  • Google
  • iFighterLite
  • iMafia
  • Palringo
  • S.deadbeef
  • Skype
  • Time Crisis
  • Zynga Live Poker

There are heaps more apps that I use every now and then but the list would be too long. Well… what apps have you been using? Were they social networking apps? Games? or what apps do you use on a daily basis?

iPhone advice

A friend of mine from China was asking me this question.

Is there anything I should be aware of when I buy an iPhone?

This question triggered a series of questions in my head immediately.

  • Where are you getting the iPhone 3G from?
  • Is the phone unlocked?
  • If not, do you know how to jailbreak it?
  • Is 3G available in China?
  • If not, does your current mobile service include any internet access?

Out of all these questions that popped out of my head, none of these questions were actually product related. I am a big Apple fan, that’s for sure. But I started questioning myself, is there really nothing wrong with the iPhone 3G itself?

I have been using the iPhone 3G since July 2008 and although the iPhone 3G did used to crash quite frequently in the early stages (especially when you’re using a 3rd party application). It seems that Apple has pretty much took care of the problem now. I rarely come upon apps crashing or misbehavior and I’m always using it. For calls, text, emails, iPod, Twitter, a few games, Google Reader and so on… I can say that I’m actually a very happy user!

The only downside that I can really think of is its battery life. On a normal day where I’d go to work in the morning, listen to music on the way, go on Twitter, check my emails, read any RSS, play a few short games or maybe a few phone calls. By 2-3 in the afternoon, I’ll have to somehow start charging my iPhone 3G. Charging via the USB cable or using the 3rd party external rechargeable battery.

Oh… another thing that I could think of, is dropping calls or time required to reconnect to its cellular network (say you walk into a lift, lost reception, got to whichever level you wanted to go to, walk out of the lift). It takes quite a bit of time to reconnect to its cellular network. I’m not sure if this is a common issue with iPhone 3G itself, or it’s a matter with my cellular provider, 3. Is anyone out there with 3 experiencing the same problem? What about other iPhone 3G users that aren’t using 3?

Well, that’s my ‘user experience’ for the past 9 months. Just wish that the iPhone OS 3.0 can be released sooner. What about you guys?

Quote of the Day

Went over to Kwun Tong to have lunch with my… hmmm… old friend… I got there first, so I got ourselves a table while waiting. The restaurant was almost fully reserved and there weren’t seats available at the proper tables. Worrying that she might be wearing a skirt/dress, I picked the seats at the bar instead of those high, round bar tables right next to the glass walls. Turns out, she was wearing a dress. Anyways… Haven’t seen her for a few months but as soon as she sat down, we just couldn’t stop talking. Her lunch break was only till 2, so we took care of the bill around quarter-to then walked her back to her office. It was really great catching up with her!

Got nothing really important to attend to in the afternoon, so decided to have a walk at the apm (a shopping mall in Kwun Tong). Wasn’t looking to do any major shopping, but just wanted to see if there’s a bookstore there. There’s this book store at level 6 which I could not tell what it’s called. There were no store signs at the entrance whatsoever. Anyways, it sells books, so I went in.

There weren’t a wide range of English books so my choices were quite limited. 2 books caught my eye. ‘Why Economics Explains Almost Everything’ and ‘It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be’. Had a quick flick-through and found them quite interesting, so off to the cashier. Up to the point where I was handed my receipt that I fount out that the book store was Joint Publishing.

Was reading the latter on my MTR ride back to the office and found this really good quote.

“Without having a goal it’s difficult to score.”

This is very true! And every now and then, I find myself in a position where I’m a bit lost. Maybe my goal was kind of fading a bit. Have you ever experienced the same? Feeling kind of lost? Don’t know what you’re doing?

This quote suddenly reminded me about the goal I’ve set at the end of last year. To be honest, I think I have somehow lost that goal in the past 3 months. It’s about time to sit back and work out this quarter’s plan and visualize my goal!

How are you doing in regards to your own goal?

Spent all weekend building pklai.com

Haha… I think I’m really excited about my domain being hosted. I’ve been spending all weekend playing with it. I’ve now got both my English and Chinese blogs here! The only thing I need to work out now is to make the links work as planned.

I got really sick on yesterday, so kind of flu I guess. I get this every time the weather changes. I was still feeling really crooked till this evening. An Australian friend rang me in the afternoon saying that he’s passing by Hong Kong and wanted to catch up. I really wanted to go but at the end I had to turn him down because I just don’t feel like leaving home so sick. So I think I’ll catch up with him tomorrow.

There’s still quite a bit to do with the website. I’ve got some ideas, but don’t know how to actually do it. I rang @nefuis earlier tonight and asked for help. He reckons that the things I wanted to do should be fairly easy. But I just can’t figure out which file I should be working on. Oh well, I’ll search the forum to see if there’s any suggestions.

Alrighty, good night!

pklai.com is up!!!

Woke up this morning to find that my domain has been successfully hosted!!! Was so excited and kept importing stuff and installing new plugins for the whole day.

For some reason, the blogs don’t look exactly like what it was. So I’m still trying to figure out how to align the images to the center.

Anyways, I’m very happy that my website (blog) is finally hosted with the domain pklai.com!
