A night of snooker with Tommy

Tommy was away in Shanghai to meet his wife since Chinese New Year and I still haven’t seen him since he came back last Monday. Wanted to have a game of snooker with him for quite some time. Since the rest of my mates were saying that he’s improved quite a bit. Met up with him at the Yau Ma Tei MTR station after @nefuis dropped me off.

As soon as he came up to me on the platform, he hung up the phone and passed me a red pocket! Woohoo! The first ever red pocket from him! Vincci & Tommy got married back in August 2007 but I was still in Brisbane during Chinese New Year 2008. Yay! So happy!

He had to pick up some shopping for his wife since she’s still on her business trip in Shanghai, so I went to grab my cue then met up again afterwards then straight to SCAA!

Got a room on the 2nd floor and it’s battle time! He won the first frame by the black and I took the second also by the black. We’re even. Seems like he has really improved! He then went on the take another 2 frames, leading 3-1. I got a bit pissed and turned the TV off. Concentrated. Fought back! We ended the night with 3 a piece.

Good game Tommy!

Tommy had to be somewhere so we quickly had supper then we parted ways. On our way to supper, walked pass a very interesting window display. Took a few photos of it but didn’t really get what message it’s trying pass to its audience.

Exhausted after supper… An hour’s trip home was not funny…

Apliu Street, Sham Shui Po

Went over to Apliu Street at Sham Shui Po to meet up with @nefuis and @martin_tintin. The main reason is to check out some camera gear. Wanted to get a flash light for my Panasonic DMC-LX3 but turns out, it’s bloody hard to find one that also support TTL. Found a cheap $268 manual one but @nefuis reckons it’s too big for my little camera and that it would look hilarious! So ended up buying a lense adaptor. Bear in mind, I don’t have an extra lense, okay?

Before we took off, we ate some off-the-road snacks/food then @martin_tintin went home and @nefuis dropped me off at the Yau Ma Tei MTR station so that I can meet up with another friend, Tommy for snooker later on.

Standard Chartered Marathon 2009

It’s a big day in town! The Standard Chartered Marathon is on today! I entered the 10km Run 2 which starts at 06:00.

Because mahjong the night before, I got to my friend’s place in Causeway Bay at around 02:00 and immediately tried really hard to sleep. 30 minutes have passed and I’m still wide awake. Another 30 minutes followed by another 30 minutes and I’m still struggling to fall asleep. By 04:30, my friend Miranda rang and asked when I’m going to the starting point then we made a time to meet near the car park next to the Victoria Park tennis courts. So bugger it! Got out of bed and had a shower.

I left my friend’s place at 05:00 and as soon as I got on the streets I see heaps of people dressed in their running gear ready for the event. I wasn’t bringing any luggage to be stored away so I was ready as soon as I got there. Started warming up while waiting for my 2 friends/co-workers near the tennis court carpark.

It was still dark when we got together and started walking to the starting point.

We were already on the bridge before 06:00 (the official starting time of the 10km Run 2). Everyone was so excited! The atmosphere was great! After taking this photo, on our way to the starting point, a familiar face was kinda of staring at me… It was my never met Twitter Buddy @doublechin!!! OMG~! Went over and had a bit of a chat… Wish we had more time since it was really quite awkward at the moment.

Okay… It’s getting close to 06:00 and you can really feel the hype as the announcer of the event speaks out… ’2 minutes before the run begins!’. Everyone’s so excited!!!

Here we go!!!

Here it goes! Woohoo~~~!

The first 2 km were fairly easy as my body is still ok for it… but after the first 2 km, my cough is getting to me big time and I couldn’t breath properly. Had to pull over or walk a few times before getting to the 1st water station.

Paper cups everywhere...

Paper cups were all over the place! I couldn’t resist stopping to take a photo of it. The sky was starting to brighten up at this time. Continued running after the 1st water station only to find that my tendons of both my thighs were starting to hurt very bad. Throughout the rest of the run, I had to walk for almost 2 km.

It feels like forever to finish the run and I think I got to the finishing line around 07:30. Still haven’t checked my official finish time yet, but will post it once I’ve got it.

Every runner gets a pack of water, sports drink, fruits etc… after the race… and look at the banana dump on what’s suppose to be a water machine! It’s hilarious!

Runners’ pack

It’s the Friday just before the big day. An international athletic event, the Standard Chartered Marathon 2009. It’s the first time ever in my life to participate in such a running event. I’m not so much of an athlete fir almost 10 years now since I left high school, so going for the 10km run is already a big enough challenge for myself.

Got no client appointments this afternoon, so took some time after lunch and went over to Victoria Park to pick up my runners’ pack. In it, there’s my number cloth, timing chip, baggage number tag, a t-shirt, an souvenir and some printed material. Getting all excited about the event just because of this already!!! Haha…

After picking up the runners’ pack, I quickly went back to the office to pick up some personal stuff and I was off to meet up with @nefuis and @martin_tintin to do some shopping at Mongkok. We did a bit of look around at some camera and computer stuff. Didn’t buy anything in these 2 categories but ended up with a pair of Nike socks and armband.

Looking forward to the run!!!
